Stark, cold, beautiful blue desolation...
Polar Night in the high Arctic archipelago of Svalbard lasts from the middle of October till middle of February. While the Sun neither rises nor sets in this period of the year, it is, however, not pitch-dark all the time. In the first half of February the sky gradually lightens and the landscape, bathed in a magical blue light, comes alive again after almost 3 months of complete darkness. The surreal landscapes painted in the glowing silver-blue light that lasts several hours a day cannot be described in words, one needs to experience this in person...
